Arizona Cardinals playoff scenarios 2013: How Arizona can make postseason

After a huge upset win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon, the Arizona Cardinals kept their playoff hopes alive. In order for the Cardinals to make the postseason, they will need to beat the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17, but they will still need some help.

There are two ways that the Cardinals can qualify for postseason play and it all starts on Monday Night Football.

Here are the two scenarios that would need to play out in order for the Cardinals to reach the playoffs:

  1. San Francisco 49ers lose to Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football + Arizona Cardinals defeat San Francisco 49ers in Week 17.
  2. Arizona Cardinals defeat San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 + New Orleans Saints loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 17.

It won’t be easy, but there is still hope.

Do you think the Cardinals will make the playoffs as one of the NFC Wild Card teams? Sound off in the comments section below with your thoughts and predictions.

I remember one year the Broncos went 11-5 and were left out of the playoffs. That is just wrong. When you have teams 8-8 making it and an 11-5 team out, the format needs to be changed. It’s just wrong.

its better than the one roger goodell is implementing in the coming years anyway.

What about Carolina losing to the Falcons next week. Wouldn’t that put us in if we beat the 49rs next week?

    • Carlos Prieto

No Carolina already clinched a playoff spot. If they lose they tie the saint & own the tie breaker

Not if the saints win. If the saints win and Carolina loses and the cards win, wouldn’t that put the cards in? They own the tie breaker over the panthers.

I’d like to say yes but im not too sure Atl will win or Tampa. Not saying it’s not possible…just sayin both those games are home for the 9ers and Saints…..just may be a lil unlikely. Atl and Tampa aren’t doin so hot this year. But…I’ll be rooting for them!!

I hope so. I’d love to see Carson Palmer get trashed by the Bengals in the Super Bowl.

I can see the Cardinals beating the 49ers as a possibility. But counting on the Bucs to beat the Saints? That would worry me as a Cards fan.

We were depending on the Atlanta Falcons a “weak” team this year with 4-11 to beat the 49ers, witch didn’t happen, So now were depending on another “weak” team this year with the same record as the Falcons, the Buccaneers with a record of 4-11 to beat a “strong” team this year with the same record as the Arizona Cardinals 10-5 (my team) So we need the Buccaneers to beat the Saints and also, Arizona Cards to defeat the 49ers, Arizona Cardinals home field advantage, we got this in the bag, but when the Cards beat the 49ers it will tie the record of 11-5 both 49ers and Cards. Hope we make it to the playoffs! Its going to be a good game, last 5 games 49ers 5-0 and Cards 4-1 So lets keep the hope alive! Go Arizona Cardinals!
