The slowest day in sports?

Serious question, is this the slowest day in sports?  I browsed through today’s schedule, and the docket is eerily empty.  The only major sporting event is the Hawaii Bowl played between the Boise State Broncos (8-4) and the Oregon State Beavers (6-6) at 8 pm ET on ESPN.

I guess the slow sports schedule has to do with Christmas Eve falling on a Tuesday.  All the NFL games are done for the week, and the NBA is taking a break before its Christmas games.  College basketball is giving its student athletes a much needed rest, and the NHL is taking a three-day break starting today.

So what should we do?  Ben Johnson of FanSided.com wrote a column yesterday making a case for Die Hard as the best Christmas movie of all time.  I would recommend checking out his column.  Then, I would recommend watching the first three Die Hard movies.

If you are looking for a more traditional “best Christmas movie,” then, It’s a Wonderful Life gets my vote.  It’s a great movie that will have you feeling optimistic about the New Year.

Merry Christmas!
