The Kansas City Chiefs have made themselves into serious contenders after coming off a terrible 2012 season.

With the additions of Andy Reid and Alex Smith, this team has completely turned around and will be preparing themselves for the playoffs. Everything this team has done so far this year has been great. They’ve had a couple ups and downs but that’s expected with a team that has a brand new head coach and starting quarterback.

At the beginning of the year, I figured this team would be a forced to be reckoned with in the next couple of seasons. I didn’t imagine their season going the way it has so far, them being one of the top teams in the AFC.

The AFC West has shown promising signs of being an exciting division with the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and hopefully the San Diego Chargers in the years to come.

Now when it comes to Sunday’s game against the Chargers, linebacker Tamba Hali and wide receiver Dwayne Bowe have been ruled out.

This allows the Chiefs to rest some of their key players since they’ve already locked up a Wild Card spot. I wouldn’t be shocked if they announce some other key players taking a week off.

To rest or not to rest that is the question? I am all for resting because of injury concerns or worry of re-tweaking a past injury that the player may not have recovered 100% from. But to rest them just to rest has some implications not paying dividends down the road in the playoffs! Taking that week off leaves the door open to getting rusty and lazy! and the Chiefs do not need to go into the playoffs rusty and not get rolling till the 2nd half of the game! To many chances for the other team to do us in in the 1st 1/2 and us not being able to catch up! Also when you don’t play, your body tightens up and it takes some time to get re-adjusted to football and football speed, and in my mind is an accident waiting to happen, and we definitely don’t need more injuries to go along with the one’s we already have! But whatever the coach decides it’s his ship to sail now, I just hope he has a plan for the immediate future that includes our Chiefs getting to and winning this years SB….. GO CHIEFS!!!!
