For a brief moment in Week 16, the Arizona Cardinals thought they’d control their own playoff destiny.

Had the Atlanta Falcons beaten the San Francisco 49ers on Monday evening, Arizona would have hosted the Niners in Week 17 with the winner moving on to the postseason.

Things looked good for Arizona until an interception in the final minutes secured a victory for San Francisco, allowing them to clinch a postseason birth. That has left the Cardinals rooting for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who must beat the New Orleans Saints this weekend for Arizona to potentially make the postseason.

Knowing this, the Cardinals’ Twitter account pleaded with the Saints for help – channeling their inner Star Wars, asking them to ‘use the force‘:

"Help us @TBBuccaneers, you’re our only hope. #UseTheForce#TBvsNO"

A loss by the Saints to the Bucs and a victory by the Cardinals over the 49ers would put Arizona in the playoffs (and three NFC West teams), but they’re certainly going to need the dominoes to fall correctly for such a scenario to unfold.
