The Toronto Raptors are discussing a number of potential changes to the team, as they look to rebrand the franchise with the help of recording artist Drake. In one of the more bizarre twists, Toronto is reportedly considering dropping the white and red Canadian colors to go with a black and gold color scheme.

The black and gold scheme is used for the cover of Drake’s “October’s Very Own” album and his influence in the potential new design is no coincidence.

From Doug Smith of the Toronto Sun:

"Now, I’m not suggesting it’s a done deal and a lot of different people and companies are coming up with a lot of different looks and styles but I was told on the weekend that black and gold is definitely something being considered."

It would certainly be interesting to see Toronto completely change their colors to something that has no ties to the city of Toronto, but Drake can apparently do whatever he wants as a “global ambassador.”
