The Cleveland Browns made waves this weekend when they fired first-year head coach Rob Chudzinski, but the storm has calmed and the search for the second head coach in two years for the Brows is officially underway. The first name that was mentioned in connection with the Browns was Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, and the Browns have received permission to meet with him and have scheduled an interview for this week.

According to Adam Schefter and ESPN, the Browns will kick off the New Year by interviewing Quinn on Wednesday.

The Browns have other candidates lined up as well, but Quinn will be the first coach they meet with before the rest of the pack. Josh McDaniels is another name that has been mentioned as well as Todd Bowles but it is Quinn who is getting called up first. Cleveland, and every other team in the league, have been impressed with Quinn’s leadership of Seattle’s ‘Legion of Boom’, and replicating that in the Dawg Pound is something the Browns find attractive.

Quinn has other suitors and the Browns won’t be the only team interviewing him, but they’re getting first crack and that might end up being an advantage.
