Spring training and the 2014 MLB season is just around the corner and the columnists at mlb.com have just released their predictions for the new season.

In a list on prognostications that ranged from MVP to Cy Young award winners, the St. Louis Cardinals were mentioned most as probably World Series participants by the columnists.

Mike Bauman believes the Cardinals will take on the Detroit Tigers for league supremacy. Although he did acknowledge that there were only 28 other teams that would argue his prediction.

Richard Justice is also on the St. Louis bandwagon. He predicts that the Cardinals will beat the Los Angeles Angels in seven games.

Phil Rogers played it a little safe with his predictions when it came to the World Series, naming the teams he thought would be playing for a chance to play for a chance to hoist the championship trophy.

"The AL will have to go through the Tigers and the Rangers, who with Fielder and Choo could get to the World Series again. The Detroit-Texas survivor is most likely to meet the Dodgers or Cardinals in the World Series, although it would be nice to see the McCutchen’s Pirates build off their recent success."

Surprisingly enough, only one columnist thought to include the Boston Red Sox as possible World Series participants.
