Wait…what? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you heard me correctly. According to the good people at Nerdist, we have come to learn that our favorite smart mouthed mercenary is getting hitched.

The real question here is…who on the Earth, or any other planet for that matter, is crazy enough to marry Deadpool?

Well, according to the Wedding Invitation, the answer is “Wouldn’t You Like to Know?”

Earlier today, Nerdist had the opportunity to sit down with writer Gerry Duggan to discuss the matter and hget the real scoop on the situation. Duggan explains how something that started out as a simple gag turned into some huge spectacle.

"“The honest answer is that it was written into a Deadpool story, but more or less as a gag, and Jordan D. White, the editor, was like a dog with a bone.” Duggan said. “He was like, “No, no, no – this is going to be a big deal.” You know, we wrote it, so it’s not like we weren’t behind it. The fun thing has been – after his misadventures, I guess you’d call them, in North Korea, in the story arc “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly,” he learned a lot about himself and why he is the way he is. He doesn’t really have too much of a life. Yes, this is a knee-jerk reaction from a wounded guy to go out there and sort of do something crazy to sort of jump start a life, but there is a real emotional reason for doing it, so I think that will be the part that will resonate. Then the actual gags of the wedding will be fun too, but there is a real grounding to it, and that’s what will make it fun to explore.”"

However, as one could expect, they are not sure that Deadpool’s new love interest is going to last. As most of you already know, there is a bit of a splatter zone that surrounds Deadpool. I can’t imagine that someone who may prove to be a vulnerability for the anti-hero will stick around very long.

Here is a look at the invitation to the wedding. Here’s hoping that the wedding goes off without a hitch and doesn’t go the way of Game of Thrones we don’t need Deadpool to pull a Robb Stark, now do we?

If nothing else, this is going to end up being a pretty wild series of events.

Everything is set to go down in Deadpool #27 in April of 2014.
