The No. 10 Oregon Ducks defeated the Utah Utes 70-68 (OT) at Jon M. Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.  The Ducks remain undefeated at 13-0, and the Utes fell to 11-2.

Oregon seemed a bit rusty in its Pac-12 Conference opener.  Second leading scorer Mike Moser hit a three at 5:44 in the second for his only points of the game.  Leading scorer Joseph Young finished with nine points despite averaging 20.2 points per contest

In overtime, the scoring was limited, but the excitement level increased.  Utah was in control of its own fate, and called a timeout with six seconds to go and the score tied at 68.  However, the play coming out of the timeout broke down, and Oregon guard Damyean Dotson stole the ball.  With exactly .6 seconds on the clock, Dotson slammed home a transition dunk to give the Ducks a 70-68 lead. Utah’s inbound pass to Jordan Loveridge led to a missed three, and the Ducks stunned the Utes on their home turf.

Regulation scoring summary: Utah worked up a 45-35 lead at 13:44 in the second, but Oregon fought back to lead by two points after a Richard Amardi layup with 7:30 to go.  From there, both teams were neck-and-neck, with Oregon taking small leads and the Utes tying the Ducks at various points.

A crucial play came at 1:19 with the score tied at 60.  Oregon guard Jason Calliste rattled out a three, and Utah center Dallin Bachynski grabbed the defensive rebound.  After being fouled, Utah guard Brandon Taylor hit both free throws, and the Utes took a 62-60 lead with 42 seconds to go. Oregon guard Damyean Dotson was fouled on the next possession, and hit both free throws to tie the game with 27 seconds on the clock.  Utah had a chance to win it with the final possession, but Jordan Loveridge’s three missed as time expired.
