When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers moved quickly to hire Lovie Smith to become their next head coach, we knew that changes to the coaching staff would be coming shortly. Before Smith was even hired, it was reported that he’d be taking former California head coach Jeff Tedford with him and that move has now been made official.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have hired Jeff Tedford to be the team’s new Offensive Coordinator and it’s a move that Bucs fans are going to be very happy about. Not only id Tedford a breath of fresh air for Mike Glennon or whoever takes over the quarterback spot in Tampa, but he’s coming from a long line of successful college players he’s churned out including Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch.

It’s going to take some work for the Buccaneers to become dominant, but the fact that Tedford has an elite running back on his resume means that he will do wonders for Doug Martin in 2014. It also means that the offense will begin to develop more and more under his leadership.

Smith is expected to target Rod Marinelli as the team’s defensive coordinator, but that would mean the Dallas Cowboys would have to let him out of his contract, something that Jerry Jones might not do.
