The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to salvage what’s left of their season after suffering a slew of injuries to their aged roster. The biggest blow was dealt when Kobe Bryant suffered a knee injury just seven games after returning from offseason Achilles survey. The knee surgery went well though and there is hope that Bryant will return before the season ends.

Lakers fans may want to have Kobe wait as long as possible before returning, but he’s already starting to get things going in the gym just weeks after receiving the knee surgery. Kobe has kicked off 2014 by taking practice shots in the gym, which aren’t impressive shots but they’re the start of his rehab.

Lakers’ beat reporter Mike Trudell posted the video on Vine which now has Lakers fans hopeful Bryant will indeed return before the season ends. There’s two flaws in that though as the season may end up being marked as a lost one in a very short period of time here, and incase you don’t notice, those aren’t game winning shots that Kobe is practicing.

But his flat footed shots are a start and that’s really all Lakers fans can be thankful for at the moment. The superstar and future Hall of Famer isn’t a noble youngster anymore and two major lower body surgeries in under a year isn’t something fans should sneeze at anymore.
