Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson was just one of the many professional athletes who have been arrested for careless driving and slapped with a D.U.I. charge.

It’s something that shouldn’t necessarily happen considering that these men in this league are in fact men. They know the difference between right and wrong but I guess they can play the ‘I’m a human being too, I’m going to make mistakes.’ card as well. Why not, right?

Anyways, Simpson (who is preparing to become a free agent by the way) was arrested on November 9th for careless driving and third-degree D.U.I.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the veteran wide receiver did in fact plead guilty to both charges on Thursday and was sentence to 120 hours of community service. He must also attend alcohol seminars.

Has everybody forgotten what Donte Stallworth did not that long ago? These men who keep picking up these D.U.I.’s are never going to learn until they end up doing the same thing that Stallworth did or worse, killing themselves and or whoever happens to be in the vehicle with them.

Stop giving them slaps on the wrists and ordering them to do community service. Send them to jail so they actually learn a lesson. They already work with the public during the regular season, so you’re pretty much having them do a part of their job as a punishment.
