The Detroit Tigers and the West Michigan Whitecaps will have some repairs to due in the near future after the Whitecaps stadium caught fire along the first base side on Friday morning.

Per MILB.com:

"Whitecaps director of marketing and media Mickey Graham, reached just before noon by MiLB.com’s Benjamin Hill, said that the fire was “significant.” He added that the team had no information to pass along at this time but would do so as soon as they were able."

Adding more terror to the situation was that many Whitecaps employees were working in the stadium offices at the time and had to rush out of the burning structure.

Fifth Third Ballpark, as its known as, is set to host the 50th Midwest League All-Star Game.

The Whitecaps are expected to open their season on April 8th, though it’s currently unknown how the fire will affect Opening Day – if at all.

No injuries were reported, thankfully, especially considering it has been reported the east side stands had caved in.
