Philadelphia Eagles fans may want to be careful who they talk smack to on Saturday evening as that unsuspecting New Orleans Saints fan may be an undercover Philadelphia police officer.

Taking a page from a handful of other police departments (say like Seattle), the Philadelphia Police Department has decided they will have officers wear New Orleans Saints gear to blend in with the crowd in Saturday night’s NFC Wild Card playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field:

Per Mike Duffy:

"@PhillyPolice will be wearing @Saints jerseys & hats, be careful who you pick on @LFFStadium during @Eagles game."

I’ve seen some people voice relatively strong opposition against teams and police departments using such a tactic, but I personally don’t see much problem with it. Of course, publicly announcing might not make it as effective but at least it’ll hopefully stop a few knuckleheads from making a poor decision.

Hopefully the officers will be wearing something under the jersey as temperatures for the game between the Eagles and Saints are expected to be below freezing.
