The San Diego Chargers are preparing for a big game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon, where they will be looking to avoid elimination from the playoffs. However, while the Chargers are hoping to continue their postseason run, there is one team that would like to see them ousted so they can take the next step in their head coaching search.

According to reports, the Detroit Lions view Chargers offensive coordinator as the top candidate for their head coaching vacancy, but they cannot have any more discussion until he is no longer coaching in the playoffs.

Not only to the Lions have interest in Whisenhunt, but a few other teams around the league do as well.

From Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

Whisenhunt is an offensive mind who would likely have a field day with the likes of Calvin Johnson and Reggie Bush on the roster, so it is understandable to see why the Lions would like to make that hire.

Of course, they are currently at a stand still, so we will have to see if any further developments take place.
