Michael Vick says he’s not a backup quarterback, likely done with Eagles

I’ll give credit where it’s due – Michael Vick handled the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback situation with a lot of class. The team was playing better under Nick Foles and he knew that. He didn’t put up a stink about head coach Chip Kelly going with Foles but with the season now over, Vick wants to make something clear – he’s not a backup quarterback.
Speaking to reporters after the Eagles’ heartbreaking playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints, Vick hinted he may have played his final game in Philadelphia:
"When asked if he would come back to Philadelphia next season, Vick simply shook his head no.“I’m still a starter,” Vick said. “I’m not a backup quarterback.”Which means unless something drastic changes, Vick’s time in Philadelphia is over.“This very well could be,” Vick said when asked if this was his last game in an Eagles uniform. When asked if he would come back to Philadelphia next season, Vick simply shook his head no.“I’m still a starter,” Vick said. “I’m not a backup quarterback.”Which means unless something drastic changes, Vick’s time in Philadelphia is over.“This very well could be,” Vick said when asked if this was his last game in an Eagles uniform."
The Eagles are understandably committed to Foles moving forward and Vick has no interest carrying a clipboard on the sidelines, despite being a ‘good solider’ and suggesting he was open to the idea a few weeks back.
Expect to see Vick in a new uniform come the 2014 season.
