The New Orleans Saints got their first road win in franchise history in the postseason last night in Philadelphia, but the work is far from over. Entering the postseason as the sixth and final seed, the Saints will need to win all road games if they wan to play a cold weather Super Bowl in New York.
The next stop in that journey is in perhaps the worst road stadium in all of professional sports, as the Saints will take on the Seattle Seahawks next week. Not only do the Saints had a sketchy road record but they got blown out by the Seahawks earlier this year when they met in Seattle.
Both factors have led to oddsmakers heavily favoring the Seahawks in next week’s rematch. Vegas has the Seahawks opening as 8.5 point favorites which is pretty considerable since this is a playoff game we’re talking about. The Saints are underdogs by more than a touchdown for the first time since 2000 which means they have never won a playoff game in which Vegas gave them underdog status of that magnitude.
We don’t need oddsmakers to tell us this though, but the Saints weren’t supposed to beat the Eagles last night and they did which further proves that anything is possible in the NFL postseason.
