The Los Angeles Lakers and the Cleveland Cavaliers failed to reach a resolution on an Andrew Bynum trade by Sunday night but talks are expected to continue for the next 48 hours. But while the trade talks haven’t really gone anywhere over the course of a week, it’s not for a lack of trying on either part.

According to FOXSports reporter Sam Amico, the Lakers tried to find middle ground on their demands for Pau Gasol by inquiring about Cavaliers big man Anderson Varejao. Needless to say, the Cavaliers told the Lakers where they could stick that inquiry based on what they were sending back.

The trade talks between the Cavaliers and Lakers are truly at a crossroads as the Cavaliers want Pau Gasol but don’t want to send much more than Bynum in return while the Lakers want a considerable return for Gasol that extends beyond mere cap relief. That’s the real sticking point in the talks as neither side wants to budge and when someone tries to get creative or crafty, the offer is rebuffed.

The Cavs apparently have offers from the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls as well, so either way it’s looking like Bynum will be on the move to someone in the next 48 hours.
