The Philadelphia Eagles – after a slow start – finished off their 2013 campaign quite strongly, despite losing in heart breaking fashion to the New Orleans Saints in their NFC Wild Card matchup.

The solid play should benefit the Eagles moving forward, including wide receiver DeSean Jackson who suggested he’d like a new contract in the near future:

"On locker clean out day, DeSean says he deserves a new contract: “I definitely feel it’s something deserving. We’ll see how that plays out.” DeSean: “Hopefully we can work things out smoothly & not have to worry about anything out of the ordinary. I definitely feel it’s deserving”"

It’s hard to argue with him.

Jackson, under head coach Chip Kelly experienced a career season where he hauled in 82 receptions for 1332 yards, including nine touchdowns.

There weren’t many receivers in the NFL who put up better numbers and given Jackson’s ability to play down field with quarterback Nick Foles, they formed one of the best tandems in the NFL.

Of course, Jackson recently signed a five year, $51 million dollar deal in 2012 so the Eagles may not feel as warm and fuzzy about a new deal as Jackson does.
