A few days back, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford sat in on Jim Caldwell’s interview with the team.

It proved to be a relatively successful venture as Stafford will now have a role in whomever the Detroit Lions hire, this according to NFL.com.

"“It’s something, however much they ask me to be a part of it, I’ll be a part of it,” Stafford told WJR-AM on Monday, per the team’s official website. “I’m not knocking on the door. They asked me to sit in on that one, and as more and more interviews happen, whether I’m in town to sit with them and talk or whether we talk on the phone — I’m sure I’ll have some involvement in that process.”"

By no stretch of the imagination will Stafford have the final say, but rather just be another valued input in regards to potential candidates.

It’s a little unique, though something that will likely become more popular with franchise players moving forward – especially quarterbacks who’ll have such a close relationship with the head coach.
