The Cleveland Cavaliers said that they wanted to trade Andrew Bynum with 48 hours of Sunday’s self-imposed deadline and that was achieved on Monday night. But while the Los Angeles Lakers were the destination discussed the most, the troubled center has landed somewhere else — in Chicago with the Bulls.

According to Brian Windohorst from ESPN, the Chicago Bulls have traded Luol Deng to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Bynum and draft picks.

In the last few days, the notion that the Bulls were going to trade Deng before the February deadline was growing more and more likely and now that the trade for Bynum is done, it appears the Bulls are more interested in building for next year than they are about saving this year.

Many fans were hoping that Deng and the Bulls could work out a contract extension but that didn’t happen and the Bulls have instead shipped him off to Cleveland with the hopes that Bynum will get it together and be a key piece of the Bulls future.
