The NFL’s popularity continues to be at an all time high, which means that the league could look to capitalize on the boom and look to continue raking in the big bucks. The latest idea for the NFL is to expand the playoff field by one team in each division and it appears that it has been met with a positive response.

While speaking at an event in New York City on Tuesday night, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell stated that the idea of expanding the playoff field is gaining momentum, but we will have to see if the league owners would accept the idea.

With the opportunity for more money, you would have to imagine they would.

If the league decides to add a No. 7 seed in each conference, then only the top seed in the AFC and NFC would receive a bye week in the Wild Card round. The No. 2 seed would face the No. 7 team, No. 3 vs. No. 6 and the No. 4 and No. 5 teams would face off.

With two extra games on Wild Card weekend, it would be a win-win for the NFL and the fans.
