As the NFL trade deadline neared earlier this season, the Minnesota Vikings were reportedly this close to trading Pro Bowl talent, Jared Allen.

Alas, no deal was made and Allen remained with Minnesota for the remainder of the season.

No progress has been made on a potential new deal between the Vikings and Allen and with former coach Leslie Frazier recently accepting the defensive coordinator job with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, rumors have swirled that Allen could leave Minnesota for the Bucs:

"Leslie Frazier’s presence on Lovie Smith’s staff could help the Bucs lure Jared Allen to Tampa if the Vikings allow him to hit free agency"

It’s only speculation at this point, though Allen does make a lot of sense for Tampa who are in desperate need of a pass rusher.

Of course, Allen looked like a shell of his former self this season, though it’s hard to tell if that was a decline in skills or simply being affected by all of the trade talk/poor roster.
