What happens when you have more tattoos on your body than any human being other than Chris Andersen will have, and you get off deciding you don’t want to shoot threes and would rather untie the opponents shoe laces? What happens is your trade value falls faster than one of those Acme anvils that Road Runner drops, and that is what the new York Knicks are finding out is the case when it comes to J.R. Smith.

Earlier on Wednesday it was revealed that the Knicks have been shopping Smith for the last two weeks but despite winning the Sixth Man of the Year award last season, Smith has ruined his trade value with his antics and the Knicks are finding it impossible to trade him.

CBS Sports NBA writer Ken Berger polled some rival executives about who some takers for Smith could be, and the results were with either China or Erie — and that could be either the D-League affiliate or the lake.

Smith has fallen out of favor so fast that not even the dysfunctional Knicks want him anymore which says all you need to know about how toxic he’s been. Smith proved last year he can be a productive player when he wants to be but right now he clearly doesn’t want to be that kind of player.

Instead he’d rather slack off, call his own shots and untie shoelaces. Contrary to the Knicks belief, there’s no trade market for that player.
