No longer under the rule of  former offensive coordinator Jay Gruden, running back Giovani Bernard is expected to be unleashed even more next season, this according to the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Joe Reedy:

"RT @TheRealBigEv: Do you think Gio will get a bigger work load w/ Hue? @joereedy>Yup"

‘Hue’, would be new Bengals OC Hue Jackson who is quite the fan of the former Tar Heel.

Of course, it wasn’t that Gruden wasn’t a big fan of Bernard as it was the potential injury risk as teams often don’t commit to undersized running backs like Bernard.

But there are exceptions to every rule and Bernard looks to be just that.

How he’ll handle a season full of extra touches (regarding health) remains to be seen but it sounds as if we’ll get the opportunity to see in the very near future.

At 5-foot-8, 202-pounds, Bernard is similar in stature to Ray Rice, who has had no trouble finding success at such a ‘small’ size.

Expect to see Bernard closing in on at least twenty touches next season.
