Dirk Nowitzki had 24 points, five assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots as the Dallas Mavericks cruised to a 107-90 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at the New Orleans Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana Friday night.

Mavericks’ guard Monta Ellis poured in 23 points and eight assists while Vince Carter scored 14 points and Jae Crowder added 12.

Anthony Davis led the Pelicans, who have lost their leading scorer, power forward Ryan Anderson, to a herniated disc, and their starting point guard, Jrue Holiday, to a stress fracture in his right shin, with 21 points, 13 rebounds, five blocked shots and two steals.

Pelicans’ guard Eric Gordon led all scorers with 27 points on nine-of-13 shooting.

Not only did the Mavericks shoot 52.6% from the field, but they hit 14 of their 28 three-point attempts compared to just three-of-seven shooting from beyond the arc for the Pelicans, a 33-point advantage for the Mavericks from three.

The Mavericks are now 21-16 while the Pelicans, who have lost four straight games, are just 15-20.
