NFL Rumors: Darren McFadden ‘destined’ to sign with Bengals?
By Bryan Rose
Understandably, the Oakland Raiders and their fans have had enough of running back Darren McFadden.
When healthy, McFadden has proven to be a very solid tailback but staying healthy has been a problem. And we’re not talking freak injuries here, we’re talking about a player who has never played over 13 games in a season during his six year career.
Add in that McFadden was relatively hampered with a lingering injury in some of those games and his effectiveness was greatly reduced for the vast majority of his field time.
That has lead to speculation that the Raiders will move on from McFadden who according to Steve Corkran is ‘destined’ to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals:
"As @JoshDubowAP said, Darren McFadden destined to sign w/ Cincy, be paired with Hue & Giovani Bernard, acquired with pick from Palmer trade."
While the Bengals are likely to give Bernard a much improved workload for the 2014 season, there’s concern as to how much his smaller stature can handle. That could lead to a good number of carries for a ‘backup’, though given McFadden’s injury history, that’s a little scary.
