The Arizona Cardinals had themselves a great year but failed to make the playoffs. This team has gotten better all around, especially on offense after trading for starting quarterback Carson Palmer.

The move pretty much revived the career of veteran wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and even helped out some other receivers around him. Now going into the offseason, the front office of this franchise is going to want to keep some of this pieces together and possibly hand out long-term deals.

They may have found their formula to compete with the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers, so those who contributed and able to test the market may be signed immediately.

Now according to Arizona Republic, the team could be bringing back tight end Jake Ballard back for another run after he missed half of last year because of knee surgery.

Ballard was picked up by the Cardinals in Week 9 and finished the year with two touchdowns. He isn’t necessarily a big threat but hasn’t  done that bad of a job when it comes to blocking. So that may be his job if he returns to the Arizona Cardinals.

Who knows, maybe the former New York Giant can have a great 2014 like Martellus Bennett did with the Chicago Bears this past year.
