If Nate Burleson is to return to the Detroit Lions next season, he’ll need to do so at a reduced price – this according to MLive.com:

"Others, such as receiver Nate Burleson and safety Louis Delmas, likely will have to re-do their deals if they are to remain with the Lions."

The Lions have at least 20 free agents this offseason and are expected to upgrade their number two receiver in hopes of getting Calvin Johnson some support on the opposite side of the field.

That means Burleson not only would need to take a pay cut to return to the Lions, but will likely be pushed into the slot if he does – cutting into his receiving opportunities.

As of right now, there’s no word on if Burleson would be willing to return at a reduced rate or if he’d be open to a lesser role within the offense. It’s likely Burleson will wait until the Lions figure out their new coaching staff before making a final decision.
