It’s been a busy Saturday for the Minnesota Vikings, who in addition to interviewing San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman have also interviewed 49ers defensive line coach, Jim Tomsula.

"@Vikings will interview @49ers d-line coach Jim Tomsula today, @FOXSports has learned."

It’s certainly a little odd that the 49ers allowed Tomsula and Roman to interview for the job today considering both have been in preparations for San Francisco’s playoff game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. One would have assumed the 49ers would have prefer both Tomsula and Roman to fly to Minnesota after San Francisco’s game in Carolina on Sunday afternoon as the team returned to the Bay Area. A little out of the way, sure, but no more difficult than flying from Carolina to Minnesota and then returning in time for Sunday’s contest.

Tomsula has spent the past seven years as the defensive line coach for the 49ers and previously served as the head coach of the Rhein Fire in NFL Europe. He also served as the interim coach for San Francisco in the season finale of the 2010 season after Mike Singletary was fired.
