Patriots punter Ryan Allen leaves game with injured shoulder
By Josh Sanchez
It was a rough first half for New England Patriots punter Ryan Allen in the team’s AFC divisional round match up with the Indianapolis Colts. In the second quarter, Allen watched a snap sail over his head and near the endzone, where all hell broke loose.
Allen panicked and attempted to make a play for his team, but he ended up getting crushed by members of the Colts punt return unit and the ball went sailing out of the back of the endzone for a safety.
Following the kick after the safety, Allen headed to the locker room after grabbing his shoulder in pain.
There was no word on when the injury actually occurred, but you would have to believe it was when he attempted to make a pass and was sandwiched between the Colts special teamers. Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski is handling punting duties with Allen out of the game.
