The NFC divisional round match up between the San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers is just as physical as we had anticipated, which has led to some jawing after nearly every play. Early in the first half, Panthers cornerback Captain Munnerlyn received a 15-yard personal foul penalty for headbutting, but that wasn’t the last time we’d see someone using their helmet.

Late in the second half, 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin delivered a headbutt of his own to Panthers safety Mike Mitchell, but the penalty was not called.
