Chicago Bears fire two coaches on defense, Mel Tucker survives
By David Miniel
The Chicago Bears had a terrible year on defense. That’s actually an understatement, they were beyond terrible. Besides Jay Cutler, patching up the defense and the staff is a big priority going into the off-season.
They ended up tying the 0-16 Detroit Lions for the most 100 yard rushers allowed in a season. I believe that was around 12, which included Brandon Jacobs. Jacobs went about two years without a 100 yard game before the New York Giants played the Chicago Bears in October.
Now according to NBC Chicago’s Peggy Kusinski on Twitter, the Chicago Bears have fired coaches Mike Phair and Tim Tibesar. Tibesar was the teams linebackers coach with Phair taking over defensive line duty.
I thought Tucker would be fired after this disappointing season. It’s hard to believe that this defense was one of the best units last year.
Head coach Marc Trestman continued to talk about the defensive and Mel Tucker. Here are some more Tweets posted by Peggy Kusinki.
