San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt is widely regarded as the top candidate to fill the head coaching vacancy with the Detroit Lions. Luckily for the Lions, the Chargers were eliminated from the postseason this weekend and they can now move forward with talking to Whisenhunt to determine whether or not he will be their guy.

NFL insider Adam Schefter was reporting on the situation Monday morning on ESPN, when he said that we can expect a decision from Whisenhunt within the next two days.

The Tennessee Titans are also in the mix for Whisenhunt, but the Lions are strongly considered to be the favorite and the most appealing job.

Whisenhunt has had plenty of success as an offensive coordinator and, while he may have struggled as the head coach with the Arizona Cardinals, it would be interesting to see what he would be able to do with a talent like Calvin Johnson at his disposal.
