Pro Football Hall of Famers Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice are set to be team captains for the 2014 NFL Draft, and Sanders recently expressed his desire to suit up for the all-star game when the teams take the field.

Unfortunately for Sanders, the NFL immediately nixed that plan and he will need to give up his hope of returning to the field this time around.

From Pro Football Talk:

"A league spokesman tells PFT that Sanders won’t be playing in the all-star game, but that he and fellow captain Jerry Rice “will be spending the full week with their clubs beyond the draft, attending practices, on the sidelines for gameday.”"

So while it would have been fun to see Prime Time take on some of the top wide receivers in the NFL today, we will have to leave those match ups in our dreams.

However, if we get to have a glimpse inside of practice, I am sure that we will see Sanders lining up against his team’s wide receivers and attempting to shut them down on the practice field.
