When Ken Whisenhunt left his position as offensive coordinator of the San Diego Chargers, the team was left in search of a man to step up and fill the vacancy. It was believed that the team had an internal candidate in mind and now we know that they have wasted no time in naming the replacement.

According to report, the team has promoted quarterbacks coach Frank Reich to offensive coordinator.

From Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network:

Prior to joining the Chargers as quarterbacks coach, he served as the wide receivers coach for the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.

Promoting Reich to offensive coordinator was the smart choice for San Diego, considering the relationship that he has with quarterback Philip Rivers. If everything works out for the Chargers, then their offense shouldn’t skip a beat in 2014.
