When the Tennessee Titans agreed to name San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt their next head coach, questions immediately began to surface about what the hiring meant for the future of last year’s starting quarterback Jake Locker.

Whisenhunt has previously joked that his ideal quarterback would be Kurt Philip Roethlisberger, playing off the names of the top three quarterbacks he has coached, but unfortunately he only has Locker.

While Whisenhunt will need to make a decision on what to do with Locker in the offseason, Locker appears to be excited to work with Whisenhunt moving forward.

[I’m] excited about the hire and looking forward to working with Coach Whisenhunt.  He has always had very successful offenses and I look forward to learning from him,” Locker told Terry McCormick of TitanInsider.com.

Unfortunately for Locker, there is no guarantee that he will be with the team entering next season.

Tennessee has until May 3 to trigger a fifth-year option on Locker’s deal, which would ultimately make him the starter in 2014. If they decide to pass, he will be looking for a new home.
