When the Detroit Lions hired Jim Caldwell to be their next head coach, it left a vacancy on John Harbaugh’s staff in Baltimore. Today, the Ravens began the search to replace Caldwell as offensive coordinator and have interviewed former Washington Redskins coordinator Kyle Shanahan for the job.

The Ravens interviewing Shanahan comes on the heels of reports that the Minnesota Vikings secured permission from the Cleveland Browns to interview Norv Turner for the same position. When Caldwell was hired by Detroit, one of the first names mentioned in connection with the Ravens vacancy was Turner.

Baltimore may still land Turner, or they may end up preferring Shanahan instead. Either way, it is clear that the Ravens are looking outside the organization for their next offensive coordinator.
