NFL Free Agent rumors: Kansas City Chiefs expected to pursue Jeremy Maclin
By Josh Hill
This offseason is going to be one where teams are trying to build up their rosters so they can give themselves the best shot to be playing this weekend much like the Seattle Seahawks, San Francisco 49ers, New England Patriots and Denver Broncos are.
One of the teams that aren’t far off from being in Championship Weekend is the Kansas City Chiefs, and already the team is apparently looking ahead to free agents.
According to the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs are expected to make a run at Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.
The rumor shouldn’t surprise too many people, as head coach Andy Reid drafted Maclin when he was in Philadelphia and obviously thinks highly enough of him to put him on his roster. One of the things that Alex Smith struggled with at times this season was finding deep targets, but he wasn’t helped by the fact that the Chiefs had Dwayne Bowe and then no one else.
Adding Maclin not only reunites Reid with another of his former players, but it gives the Chiefs a dynamic speed receiver who can help take coverage off of Bowe and Smith’s other targets.
