2014 Super Bowl betting odds: Broncos favored over Seahawks in opening line

The Super Bowl is now set. After the Seattle Seahawks held off a late charge by the San Francisco 49ers, Seattle earned the opportunity to meet Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII, which will take place Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey

After the Broncos made the Super Bowl, the opening Vegas odds had the game listed as a pick’em regardless of who the NFC representative was.

However, now that the Seahawks have clinched a spot in the big game, the Las Vegas odds have shifted and the Broncos opened as a 1.5-point favorite over the Seahawks, according to

The over/under for the game is set at 48 points.

We will have two weeks for the line to adjust and to analyze what will be the smartest but to place, but share your initial reactions to the opening line in the comments section below

Broncos 1.5 points favs ? Really? Should be 15 I guess

Should be a good game, but after Marshalls stupid comments he’s going to get torched by PFM and the boys….Broncos by two touchdowns 31-17.

Interesting that a couple weeks ago the NFC was favored by 3.

If Denver doesn’t turn it over they will score high 20s, low 30s. I don’t think Seattle can score that much without there defense scoring. Manning against Wilson in a shoot out? Don’t think so!

You pay attention? Harvin’s playing baby.

If your going to bet Seattle I would wait I’m sure they will get 3.5 pts by game day. Its not all about Wilson for the Seahawks but it is about there running game and the pass defense. Payton will get his share but he doesn’t have the legs of Kap. The legacy of Manning will over shadow the defense of Seattle which is expected. When the line hits 3.5 lock in your bet your good to go.

The thing that will decide Super Bowl XLVIII: the weather. If the long range forecasts are correct, with temperatures under 32 degrees F. and a chance of snow flurries in the Meadowlands at kickoff, that would favor the Seahawks, a team that is more “weatherproof” than the Broncos (Peyton Manning does not play well in cold weather, as we’ve see too many times).

  • You Moron

Seattle playing anywhere but Seattle makes them mediocre. The weather can play a part in deciding the outcome. If the weather is real bad, Broncos win 44-13. If the weather is good, Broncos 56-3. So you see, the weather will impact the outcome.

“Seattle playing anywhere but Seattle makes them mediocre.” Maybe you should recap the end of the 2013 season. Seattle had the best record in the NFL. Are you an actual Broncos fan or are you just jumpin’ on the bandwagon here?

      • You Moron

Not a Broncos fan. A Dolphins fan living in NY. The beauty of me making a statement and you challenging it is the fact that in 11 days, we’ll know who was right.

The Seahwaks, without their loud stadium is a good team but not a Superbowl contender.

Unless Peyton Manning gets injured or 5 feet of snow falls on NY/NJ before the game, this game will not be close.

Is it safe for me to assume you are a Seahawks fan?

        • Mike

Well it’s been 11 days and how about them broncos? Peyton Manning wasn’t injured, and there wasn’t 5 feet of snow, however you were right about one thing, the game was not even close, it was a complete and total annihilation. The Seahawks dominated the entire game from the coin toss to the last and final few seconds of the game.

Being from Seattle, yes, it is safe to assume I’m a Seahawks fan born and raised. 43-8 GO HAWKS!!

          • You Moron

I was wrong. You were right. Nice game. I underestimated how the Seahawks would play away from Seattle but they were on it. Perhaps my disdain for Pete Carroll blinded me. Recall, I am a Dolphins fan so disliking Pete Carroll comes with the territory. That said, he did a great job and is a great coach, as much as it pains me to admit it. Football is very much about coaching and strategy. Bad coaches will never get close to the Superbowl. Great coaches win.

The Seattle defense is going to beat up the Denver offense and Lynch will run right through them – not too mention the arm of Wilson nailing his receivers. 31-24 SEATTLE

Payton Manning is the best QB in NBL he is the same as a coach on the field and even with back and neck problems he is still the best ever my pick Broncos 35 Seahawks 27.
