NFC Championship 2014: Ann Wilson sings national anthem (Video)

If you were hoping to hear a beautiful rendition of the national anthem, you better hope you missed the beginning of the NFC Championship game. Before the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks were set to kick off, Ann Wilson, the lead signer from Heart, graced the CenturyLink Field crowd with her voice.

Unfortunately, it was a little rough.

After starting off admirably, things took a turn for the worst.

A little cracking and some off-key belting had everyone wishing that there was another person rocking the mic. Hell, Macklemore probably would have done a better job.

You can listen for yourself here:

Let’s just hope that the Seahawks and 49ers put on a better performance during the game, as they fight for the opportunity to face off against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 48.

It’s the AFC game, and I thought she did pretty well.

  • Nostrastevius

I thought she did great. What were you watching Josh?

  • Holly Jahangiri

I am right there with you. I am still wishing for the perfect performance of it, but that wasn’t it.

  • Robin Hoke

She did a beautiful job. Obviously, you aren’t a Heart fan. That’s okay. You may be too young to really appreciate them and especially Ann Wilson. That too is okay. She is used to it. We are used to it. Thankfully, there are those of us who know and love her and know her style. Trust me, she did a great job.

Thank you, I agree, she was awesome! So she added her own little touch and now everyone is going to knock her. Oh well, some people can’t see the great because they’re too busy looking for what they see as negative. How about all those high notes she hit and she’s in her sixties? She is a legend. Not that some people would even stop to think about that. She could have sang it straight through traditional which is what she usually does, but she did it with a little more of her style. I loved it and I say more power to her! Haters gonna hate.

  • Jacob Bigham

That’s just her voice. She did a fantastic job!

Josh must make his money trolling…she did a great job on the Nat’l Anthem (even if she does worship Satan and Charles Manson) haha…old urban rumor there

  • Jeanne Reagan

Go Ann! I love her voice! Paul McCartney received the same criticism at Queen Elizabeth II’s Jubilee.

You have to be tone deaf. She was spot on.

My 8 year old granddaughter can rock the National Anthem …YouTube Neveah Martin

It was true Ann Wilson hard rock style. The “Land of the free” was a lil rough, but overall, i like how she spun it.

  • mbruss

She put her trademark spin on the end of it and it probably didn’t go as well as she’d like but otherwise, I thought she sounded awesome!

  • lab59

I don’t think you heard the same thing I heard. Ann Wilson rocked the house, not a flat or sour note in the whole song. it’s how she sounds and it’s called “style” – something today’s singers sadly lack!

  • WavyDavy

Hey Josh, you’re a deaf dumbass.

  • greensandnettles

I agree ~ she did a great job.

  • Mike Risner-Fultz

Josh Sanchez (the author) your ears need checked. Have a little more respect for a rock legend. I thought the performance was great…and by the sound of the crowd, they did too!

  • babybleu1977

I would love to watch it but the NFL has blocked it due to copyright issues, just like East Rutherford can’t host any parties with the NFL logo Super Bowl weekend or else they have to give the NFL part of the money they make. Unbelievable
