NFL Free Agency 2014: Chiefs expected to show interest in Jeremy Maclin

The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to focus on adding some offensive weapons to the roster in the offseason and there is one potential target that is beginning to gain some buzz. According to the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs are expected to show some interest in Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Maclin will be entering free agency after missing the season with a torn ACL, so the good news for Kansas City is that they could get him relatively cheap.

There is also an obvious connection.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is the man who drafted Maclin in Philadelphia and the former first-round pick is familiar with the offense.

With the familiarity, play-making ability and value that the Chiefs could get in Maclin, it is a perfect fit and would be surprising if they did not take an honest look at adding him to the roster — even if it is just one a one-year “show me” deal.

I think Maclin would be a good addition for the Chiefs if he is healthy and the price is right! With him knowing Reid’s system already he could not only come right in and be ready to play (no learning the system) but he could help with the other WR’s learning the system! And I am all for adding Mizzou stars, as to me it is kind of a thank you to them for doing such a great job in college, and it is now their turn to show us they can still do it in the NFL, and I can think of much worse WR’s to sign than Maclin!

What little Cap money that we have had better be spent on fixing out secondary. There are enough good recievers in this draft to pick up a quality guy. Plus we have 2 guards that must be retained.

We’ll have cap space. Albert will free up almost 10mil and Berry and Jackson need to restructure. We be aiight.
