The San Francisco 49ers learned earlier today that starting linebacker NaVorro Bowman suffered a torn ACL and MCL during the team’s NFC Championship loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, but they were still awaiting word on their starting guard.

Surprisingly, the diagnosis was good considering the fear that San Francisco had.

There was some belief that Mike Iupati suffered a broken ankle during the game, but it turns out he suffered a broken left fibula and he will not require surgery, according to Sacramento Bee. As strange as it sounds, this is great news for the 49ers.

The fibula is the smaller of two bones in your leg and there was no ligament damage. It was also considered a clean break, so the belief is that Iupati should be back two 100 percent in two months.
