Mavericks at Cavaliers final score: Dallas hangs on 102-97

The Cleveland Cavaliers couldn’t get the ball in-bounds with two seconds to play and Monta Ellis hit two free throws to put a 102-97 victory on ice for the Dallas Mavericks at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio on Monday afternoon.

Ellis led the Mavericks with 22 points, eight assists, three rebounds and two steals.

The Mavericks had an 85-68 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Cavaliers used an 11-0 run to cut the lead to six. They got it down to two on a Luol Deng three-pointer with 3:25 to play, but Ellis had an answer for every big Cavaliers’ shot. Anderson Varjeao’s dunk with five seconds left cut the lead to three with five seconds left in the game and Ellis missed two free throws to set up the Cavaliers’ five second violation.

Kyrie Irving led the Cavaliers with 26 points and nine assists. Varejao had 18 points, 21 rebounds, four assists and two steals, Tristan Thompson scored 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Deng finished with 20 points.

Dirk Nowitzki added 17 points and 10 rebounds, Shawn Marion poured in 18 points and DeJaun Blair had 13 points and five rebounds off of the bench.

The Mavericks improve to 25-18 while the Cavaliers fall to 15-26.
