New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan is as brash as they come. Despite the team’s recent struggles, Ryan received a contract extension with New York where he will get the opportunity to prove that he is the right man for the job.

As Ryan prepares for the 2014 season, he plans to not change his personality and he has set up two goals for the team.

1) Make the playoffs. 2) Kick butt.

“My mentality is never going to change,” Ryan told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. “I plan on kicking some butt. I just want to be a part of this team. This is where I want to coach.

“I want to make the playoffs. Period. That’s all I think about. Whether you make it or not make it — there’s no guarantee how many wins we have to get — I can just tell you this: We want to make the playoffs. We want to be in there. It’s a disappointing season if you don’t make the playoffs. That’s three years in a row that we haven’t made the playoffs. So, heck, do I have to make [the playoffs]? I don’t know.”

Whether or not the Jets can get to the next level with Geno Smith leading the offense remains to be seen, but you can count on Ryan doing everything in his power to motivate the team and get the most out of them.
