It has been a little over 2 weeks since the Boston Celtics acquired Jerryd Bayless in a trade from the Memphis Grizzlies, but it isn’t all roses for Bayless in the green and white, as he is expected to be on the shelf for a little while.

Per A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN, Bayless is expected to miss 7-10 days (according to head coach Brad Stevens) with a toe injury, and that could have an interesting impact on the Celtics rotation in the short term. Earlier in the day on Tuesday, the Celtics announced that Rajon Rondo would have his minutes restriction raised to 20-25 minutes per night, and that should remove some of the burden of the absence of Bayless.

Still, the C’s will be short-handed without a “full-strength” Rondo, as the 25-year-old Bayless was taking over some ball-handling and/or play-making duties during his nearly 20 minutes per game. He has been a prolific scorer at times during his career (15.3 points per 36 minutes in total), and his offensive creativity is something that is seemingly lacking for Boston in a post-Jordan Crawford world.

Bayless will be back soon, but until Rondo gets his feet under him, everything is in flux in Boston.
