After the Green Bay Packers lost their Wild Card playoff game to the San Francisco 49ers, many assumed it was the last time the team would see backup running back James Starks in green and gold.

But according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentential, Green Bay is interested in re-signing the New York native.

"Also sounds like GB still interested in re-signing James Starks. Difficult decisions ahead at RB behind Eddie Lacy. Franklin, Harris in mix."

Certainly a bit of an odd fit given that the Packers are committed to Lacy moving forward and Starks, 27 and a free agent, will likely be able to cash in on the free agent market which is rich in teams desperate for a running back.

It’s doubtful Starks wants to be a backup to Lacy and with potential openings around the league, say like the New York Giants, it’s hard to think Green Bay will be able to not only afford Starks but commit enough playing time to him moving forward.
