The Chicago Bulls are fighting for a playoff spot, and while they currently are holding onto one in the East at the moment, there’s still a lot of basketball left in the season. But despite the injuries the team has suffered and the tough trades they’ve executed, head coach Tom Thibodeau couldn’t be prouder of the work one particular player is turning in.

Taj Gibson signed a fat contract extension not long ago and he’s been worth every penny so far in the mind of Thibodeau. Speaking from a completely biased point of view on Tuesday, Thibs endorsed his big man as the Sixth Man of the Year in the NBA.

Per the Chicago Sun-Times:

"‘‘Taj, to me, is a starter,’’ Thibodeau said. ‘‘He’s had a fantastic year. He can score, he defends, can play multiple positions. Whatever you ask him to do, he does.’’"

Gibson has taken over the power forward role well for the Bulls and the intention has seemingly been to plug him in as a starter when the Bulls amnesty Carlos Boozer over the summer. Fans have ben calling for Gibson to start for sometime now and it appears those days are almost here for good.

That is if the Bulls don’t decide they want to trade Thibs new favorite player first.
