The Cleveland Browns still don’t have a head coach. Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer reports that the Browns interviewed Mike Pettine for the second time at the Senior Bowl, but left without a deal.

Cabot reports that the Browns were prepared to hire Pettine on the spot if the interview went well, but the fact that the team are lined up to interview another candidate today suggests they haven’t found their man yet.

The potential interviewees for Wednesday include Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter and Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, while San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator Greg Roman has not been contacted. This suggests that when 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh spoke about the Browns contacting to ask about his assistants he was referring to defensive line coach Jim Tomsula.

One candidate who won’t be interviewed is Denver Broncos’ Adam Gase, who pulled out of consideration, as Josh McDaniels did earlier in the coach hunt.

The Browns are either taking their time to ensure they get the right coach, or are being avoided by potential head coach candidates, after they sacked Rob Chudzinski after only one season.
