Bruce Arians on Cardinals on drafting Qb in 1st round: ‘Why?’

The Arizona Cardinals came close to making the playoffs, but despite having double-digit wins they didn’t get a Wild Card spot. The Cardinals got solid quarterback play out of Carson Palmer who is 34 years old, but head coach was asked if he’d consider drafting a quarterback in the first round.

He suggested that they have two solid quarterbacks in place and wouldn’t draft someone to sit on the bench.

“We’ve got two pretty good ones that are younger [Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley]. For us right now it’s about winning a championship,” Arians said, via Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. “I don’t think we can afford to have a guy come in like that. I’m not a believer in a guy learning anything sitting on the bench. You have to play; it’s the only way you learn. He’s got to get the reps in practice, be under center and throwing all the time.”
